Education in the 21st Century
Dodson Hall, 25 E. Hastings, Vancouver Join us for a panel on the future of education. A discussion that goes deep into the philosophy of learning. Each panelist will specialize in a particular area, one for young students, the other for high-school students, and the last for post-secondary students. This will be followed by Q & A with the audience where individuals can ask each panelist for their opinions on particular topics.
The panelists are, Dayla Hart: an activist, writer, and aspiring architect who came of age at Windsor House School. An autodidact and intersectional feminist, she strives to reveal hidden truths and make living in the modern world a more liberating experience.
Kelsey Heikoop, a current volunteer teacher at Windsor House School, who has been involved in the community since the school was founded 45 years ago.
Ofira Roll, a PhD candidate in EDCP at UBC. Whose research has been informed by years of exploring different places, cultures, and educational approaches, and teaching in different countries in K-12, higher education, and adult education. The point is to research, understand, and create meanings of democratic schooling with teachers in a democratic school.
This event has been organized by the BC Student Alliance (http://bcstudentalliance.org/) which is a youth run initative to push for education reform.
