Danny Michel writes songs and makes records. His thoughtful lyrics and earnest performance have earned him devoted fans. He’s referenced Paul Simon and The Clash in his songs and like them, he can tackle worldly matters or individual philosophies in song, yet still leave room for the listener to arrive at their own conclusion.

One publication wrote “ His phrasing is raw and raspy; the rhythm of his lyric is greatly dramatized by this. He sings with a burnished glow inflecting the odd, emphasized word; always underscoring the epic story he is telling.” The Winnipeg Sun wrote “Every time we hear a new Danny Michel album we end up asking, why isn’t he famous and beloved by the masses ?”

April sees the release of Danny’s newest album, Matadora, so he’ll have a batch of new songs to present on his solo tour. He’s played the festival circuit, clubs and theatres across Canada many times, as well as performing in other countries. With nominations for three JUNO Awards, The Polaris Prize, The CBC’s “Heart Of Gold” AND a pile of albums under his belt, Danny Michel is unquestionably one of Canada’s finest songwriters.

He’s the kind of guy you’d like to hang out with at the picnic table. He fundraises for the Ocean Academy school in Belize, he’s had David Bowie send him a note complimenting Danny’s cover of Young Americans, last year he bought a 1978 boogie van with a Star Trek paint job, and this year he’ll be going to the Arctic with Canadian astronaut Col Chris Hadfield.
