"Every musician struggles for his or her art, but few quite as much as young Iraqi refugee Farooq Al-Sajee. After a lifetime of living through wars in Iraq and Syria, Farooq has come to Canada in the hopes of making music, sharing his voice and telling his story. "Time Stands Still" is a chance for you to hear this brilliant young musician and welcome him to his new home. Joining him will be favorite Vancouver soprano Elspeth McVeigh, specialist in early music. The unlikely (and thrilling) combination of their two styles should not be missed. It will be a unique and wondrous experience".
