On the night of June 4th, Pharis and Jason Romero, and their two young children endured the loss of their beloved banjo shop to a fire that destroyed the building and all it's contents as well as their adjacent sleeping quarters in the midst of a home renovation. Pharis and Jason are working musicians well known for their Juno-award winning duet, their active involvement as teachers and also for their fully handcrafted banjos. Lost in the fire was a batch of 5 impeccable, finished banjos ready to be shipped to customers the next day. This shop was home to their independent businesses and stored all of their merchandise as self-represented artists and all the banjo making tools and custom jigs that Jason had been perfecting for the past 15 years. To add to the loss of their businesses, Pharis and Jason’s extensive collection of vintage instruments was also lost in the fire.

On June 30th friends and family of the Romero's will be holding a fundraising concert at the W.I.S.E. Hall in Vancouver featuring many of Vancouver and BC's most beloved artists. A silent auction will also take place at the event to raise funds in addition to ticket sales. 100% of proceeds will go towards the Romero family in helping to rebuild their lives, careers, and musical legacy.
