You are invited to join us for an evening of music, art and conversation!
The Fort Gallery welcomes musician Thomas Krause to our August First Thursday. Thomas will present a soundscape called Listening Exercise No. 1. Composed from field recordings and audio samples captured along the highways between Bemidji, Minnesota and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, it takes the listener on an auditory journey through the ’road-scape’ of the midwest. Thomas grew up in Langley, and graduated from DW Poppy high school in 2007. After graduation, Thomas spent a year in voluntary service in the Netherlands and then continued his studies in Media and Communications at Canadian Mennonite university in Winnipeg, graduating with a BA in 2013. He currently works as an audio-visual technician in Winnipeg while also pursuing musical interests.

As well, artists from our current exhibit, 'Metaphoric Monarch' will talk about their work. 'Metaphoric Monarch' is a juried exhibition composed of 22 artists from BC and Alberta whose pieces have incorporated themes associated with the monarch butterfly--metamorphosis, migration, endangerment, etc. Our August First Thursday event will be held in conjunction with the opening reception for 'Metaphoric Monarch'.
