Join us for a fun evening to create your own painting of a lake or river you want protected.

Why: In 2012, the former Harper government made sweeping changes to freshwater protections including removing protections from 99% of the lakes and rivers under Canada's Navigable Waters Protection Act. The Trudeau government will be reviewing and holding consultations about restoring and modernizing freshwater protections. We have a rare and exciting opportunity to radically change the way water is managed. Come be a part of it!

What: Using ink and mixed media, we will create a series of paintings to make a collaborative art piece on a banner. You will also have an opportunity to write a personal message of why water is important to you on the artwork, which will be presented to a Member of Parliament on a later date to encourage stronger regulations on water. You can come just for the painting, or you can also join us in delivering the banner. The community art workshop is suitable for beginners and will be led by Joni Danielson.

Register by Monday, September 19 so we can buy supplies. Alternatively, seats will be available in the order of arrival.

Snacks and tea will be provided.

Cost: Sliding scale donation of $10-$20. This will cover the costs of the event but no one will be turned away. If you cannot contribute to the cost at this time, please email elui@canadians.org
