Percussionist Daniel Tones presents a concert of contemporary music for solo percussion that invites us to reflect on humankind’s influence on our natural surroundings. Through a contemporary sonic language it depicts the delicate balance between our planet and its inhabitants, and advocates a more harmonious coexistence. Its music, including Frederic Rzewski's "To the Earth," Owen Underhill's "Cloud over Water," Michael Oesterle's "Spanning Tree," and Stuart Saunders Smith's "Evensong," is carefully chosen for the powerful images it evokes and the connections it establishes to nature. “Ecology and the Art of Percussion" is funded by the BC Arts Council, the SOCAN Foundation, and the Fund for the Arts on the North Shore.
