Drs James Till and Ernest McCulloch, Canadian scientists who pioneered stem cell research, will be honoured with a statue unveiling by world-renowned sculptor Ruth Abernethy. Dr. Allen Eaves, founding director of the Terry Fox Laboratory, and distinguished scientist Dr. Connie Eaves will each give short talks. Following the ceremony, Abernethy, based in Toronto and Vancouver, will sign copies for her new book, Life and Bronze, a compilation of artworks and stories from her varied and diverse career. Abernethy’s expansive oeuvre covers the gamut of fascinating characters from the past century and more: from Oscar Peterson to Arnold Palmer, Al Waxman to John A. McDonald. She is the recipient of the triennial Glenn Gould Award.
