Nick Taylor is one of the co-founders of Basic Income Vancouver and part of a global movement of advocates for Basic Income. As defined by the Basic Income Earth Network, a basic income is a periodic cash payment unconditionally delivered to all on an individual basis, without means-test or work requirement.

There has been a resurgence of interest in the idea that a regular 'basic income,' sufficient to meet people's basic needs, is necessary, possible and desirable. As trends of income precarity continue, governments (including the Province of Ontario and Finland) are again looking to Basic Income; as is Silicon Valley.

Nick will lead us in a conversation entitled, "Income Inequality and the Environment - Trends for the near future," looking at how the economic discussions of Basic Income are expected to have significant impact on our society's response to environmental degradation and climate change.

Basic Income Vancouver brings together the many intersections of interest around Basic Income, and provides a monthly forum for discussion. We invite YOU to join this month's conversation! What work would you do, if your income was unconditionally secured?
