ABOUT Preuzmimo Benčić
In this experimental documentary 67 child performers occupy Benčić, an abandoned industrial complex in Rijeka, Croatia. They play artists, mayors and former factory workers. Produced in a collaborative process in which the performers wrote and improvised the script, the film spans truth and fiction to tell new stories about Benčić at a time when its future is in question.

'Preuzmimo Benčić' translates to 'Occupy Benčic'. The child performers and the film's cast and crew occupy the immense factory complex in the heart of Rijeka, bringing the abandoned halls and rooms back to life with their city's personal and industrial past and present.

Althea Thauberger
Althea Thauberger is an artist based in Vancouver, Canada. Her internationally produced and exhibited work typically involves research and critical reflections of the social histories of her production sites and an extended co-creative process with crew members and the subjects who are represented. The resulting photography, film/video and performance projects often invoke provocative reflections of social, political, institutional, and aesthetic power relations. Her work has recently been presented at the Audain Gallery, SFU, Vancouver; The Power Plant, Toronto; the 7th Liverpool Biennial.

Althea is currently touring the Balkans screening Preuzmimo Benčić in Dubrovnik, Split, Sarajevo, Belgrade and Zagreb.
