From November 7 to December 16, surrender to the lure of travel through art and culture, and visit the pictorial voyage of painter Diane Trudel at Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver. A self-taught artist who is passionate about humanity, nature and painting, Diane Trudel is originally from Quebec, and has made her home near Kootenay Lake in British Columbia.

Through her many voyages, Diane Trudel is inspired by the beliefs, traditions and stories of the communities she has encountered and she transfers these emotions onto canvas. The exhibition “And the voyage continues” is a succession of vignettes that represent the spirit captured in human interactions in the natural environment. In this way, the flora and fauna represented in her work are intrinsically connected. Each interaction is an opportunity to capture a moment in a relationship, either from the past or the present, and sometimes even some form of knowledge. Bordering on a sociological study, Diane Trudel’s works can be defined as folkloristic impressionism.

Fascinated with shapes and nuances, Diane Trudel skilfully manipulates textures and transparency. In the course of her artistic trajectory, she has developed a personal artistic technique based on a superposition of acrylic paint, media and mixed techniques that create rich, profound and luminous colour.

The opening of the exhibition “And the voyage continues” will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver, with the artist in presence. Wine and cheese will be served.
