The Dancers of Damelahamid, in partnership with the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC, present the 10th anniversary of the Coastal First Nations Dance Festival, February 28 – March 5, 2017 at MOA - and celebrates 50 years of dance revitalization for the intergenerational work of the Dancers of Damelahamid. To mark this milestone season, the festival will showcase new Indigenous stories, songs, and dances from a diverse array of Indigenous performance groups from throughout BC, the Yukon, Saskatchewan, Atlantic Canada, Alaska, New Zealand, and the Pacific Rim. This year’s landmark anniversary season will feature the addition of Opening and Closing ceremonies, enhanced educational offerings, School Workshops, and youth programming, including a workshop series of Indigenous dance with Charles Koroneho. Opening & Closing Ceremony Performances take place Feb. 28 & Mar. 5; Signature Performances take place Mar. 3 & Mar. 4 at 7:30pm; Festival Stage performances are Mar. 4 & Mar. 5 starting at 12 pm, 1:30pm, & 3 pm and are free with MOA admission.
