Hot Club Swing is 5 years old on Friday, March 17th, and you're all invited to help us celebrate being old enough to start kindergarten on Saturday, March 18th!

It wouldn't be a real birthday party without live music, and we are so, so lucky to have Josh Roberts & Friends playing dancing tunes all night long! A house DJ will keep the music going during band breaks, so you'll never have to leave the dance floor...except you might want to, on occasion, to enjoy our homemade dessert buffet (complete with birthday treats!) and sparkling fruit punch! This is the party where we pull out all the stops, because where would we be without your support and patronage over the last five years?!

As always, we will begin our evening with a total beginner drop-in swing dance lesson--no partner or previous dance experience necessary! The VSS firmly believes that anyone can learn to lead or follow, regardless of age, gender expression, or any other aspect of identity. All we ask is that you pick one role (follow/lead) at the beginning of the lesson and stick with it throughout for ease of rotation in class. Once the lesson is over, feel free to follow, lead, or switch back and forth as much as you like (with your partners' consent, of course!).

SCHEDULE:

7:50 pm: Doors open
8:00 pm: Beginner swing dance lesson
8:45 pm: Social dancing to live music by Josh Roberts & Friends; band breaks spun by a house DJ
12:00 am: Time for bed!

PRICES:

$15/pp regular for lesson + dance
$12/pp for groups* of 10+ people and UBC Swing Kids with valid membership card.

*Groups must arrive together and/or take the beginner lesson to qualify for discount, as well as email guest list to kaitlin@vanswingsociety.ca by 6 pm on the day of the dance.

LOCATION:

Hot Club Swing takes place in the Dance Studio at the gorgeous Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre, in Yaletown, Vancouver. The Roundhouse is located steps from the Yaletown-Roundhouse Canada Line station, and a variety of other public transit routes. There is also limited street parking available, as well as a parkade underneath the Roundhouse (for a fee).
