Join Dan Meades, provincial co-ordinator for the Transition House Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, for a presentation on the success of Newfoundland and Labrador’s poverty reduction strategy, a formal plan, introduced in 2006, when they shared one of the worst poverty rates with British Columbia. Their poverty rate has declined significantly since then. However, B.C. still has one of the highest poverty rates and is now the only province in Canada without a poverty reduction plan.

Come and learn how to make poverty reduction possible in British Columbia.

Dan will be joined by Iglika Ivanova, from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and local speakers to highlight the cost of poverty in B.C., and show how, with a poverty reduction plan, these costs could be cut in half, thus promoting justice for all in B.C.
