Techno Art is a collaboration between artists and geeks. Free Geek Vancouver refurbished donated business laptops, and handed them over to artists who transformed them into beautiful, thoughtful, playful art objects. Featuring art by Juan Cisneros, Jenn Dickieson, Denise Holland, Maria Katarina, Val Loewen, Lee McKay, and curated by Pippa Lattey.

The modified laptops all have the same hardware, but now each has a different skin, a different character expressing a unique relationship with technology. They examine geek culture, data storage, AI, superstition, consumer and fashion tastes. They use a range of materials and techniques including etched copper, tortillas, pepper, lipstick, and text written by humans and bots.

Saturday, April 29
2-10pm, with a reception from 7-10pm
8 E Cordova St

The exhibition is one day only. The laptops will be available for purchase at the event, and afterwards in the Free Geek Thrift Store, 1820 Pandora St.

Free Geek is a nonprofit community organization that reduces the environmental impact of waste electronics by reusing and recycling donated technology. For more information go to http://www.freegeekvancouver.org/
