The biennial event for the development of new Canadian musicals is back! Since 2011, In Tune has been the launching pad for homegrown hits like Onegin, The Best Laid Plans: a Musical, and Love Bomb, while remaining a celebrated destination for strengthening individual artists’ musical theatre practices.
This year’s In Tune features five public showcases of new musicals from award-winning artists; masterclasses from professional musical theatre instructors and New York’s acclaimed musical producer, Jack Viertel; panel discussions and conversations that connect artists across mediums; and high-energy events that celebrate the magic of musical theatre.
Touchstone Interim AD and In Tune Producer, Amiel Gladstone says, “I am incredibly proud of this year’s In Tune for the breadth of new work we were able to support from some of Vancouver’s leading musical theatre practitioners. The calibre of artists gathered in our eleven-day event is just another testament to the strength of new work coming out of this country and our role as a real leader in the development of new musicals; we are proud to give this work and these artists a platform to grow and an opportunity to connect with the producers that can present their shows. It’s also a real coup that we scooped the revered Jack Viertel to lead two masterclasses. Whether you’re a musical theatre maker or a fan who loves to see the work on stage, this is definitely an In Tune to get in on!”
