For the past 20 years, Geering Up has brought STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology & Math) camps to youth across B.C. Geering Up camps are all about making Science, Technology, and Engineering hands-on and exciting. Each day is a dynamic mix of hands-on activities, demonstrations, tours, mentors, and design challenges. Our camps are taught by experienced university students with a passion for their field of study. In addition to all of this, we ensure each camper spends at least one hour of each day participating in active games outside!.

Each camp may have some chemistry, biology, physics, geology, robotics, computer science, and more. All of this mixed into a jam-packed week of fun! Each year we make new activities for these camps, so you can come back even if you did the same camp last year.

Geering Up runs week-long science & engineering day camps in Vancouver and Kelowna, as well as other locations including Surrey, Tsawwassen Nation, Tsleil-Waututh Nation, Musqueam Nation, downtown Vancouver and Ladner! Our camps run from 9:00AM-3:00PM, with optional before & after care in certain locations

Some Camps include:
Explorers A/B – Grades 2/3
Imagineers A/B – Grades 4/5
Discoverers A/B – Grades 6/7
These are the general science and engineering camps! You will be able to complete activites and learn information that is designed for your grade. These include Quidditch, a nature walk in Pacific Spirit park, a CSI-themed day full of the science behind crime scenes, and breadboarding and circuitry!

Girls Only! Week
On top of our Girls Only Week of Camp from July 24th to July 28th, Geering Up is excited to extend this programming to our Surrey location! Participate in an exciting curriculum of science and engineering through workshops, challenges, and projects in a Girls Only environment. Please visit our Girls Only camps page for more details.

CodeMakers
Geering Up is proud to be participating in CodeMakers, a national program powered by Actua and Google. Actua’s network members at post-secondary institutions across Canada will empower 100,000 youth with critical computer science skills and prepare them for their future roles as innovators in technology.
Our CodeMakers camps are back this year! The age group for each camp varies depending on the week. We will be offering computer science camps to kids entering grades 2 – 9!

We also have camps for high school students!

Junior Program
For students who are entering grades 8 or 9 in September.
Senior Program
For students who are entering grades 10, 11, 12 or first-year University in September.

Senior Overnight Program
The best way to get a sneak peek into life at University! Students can fully immerse themselves in the University environment by staying in residence throughout the week. We rent a floor of residence for our students and plan evening activities throughout the week to explore UBC campus and Vancouver.
