663 E. 15th, Vancouver BC, Canada
An East Vancouver mainstay, Les Faux Bourgeois is located just off Kingsway on 15th. This Parisian-style bistro serves up French-inspired cuisine for dinner six days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday, and is open from 5:30 pm until midnight.
The menu highlights French classics like coquilles St. Jacques (seared Qualicum Bay scallops in mornay gratinée), escargots de Bourgogne (snails with parsley and garlic butter), and coq au vin (chicken stewed in red wine, served with mushrooms, pearl onions, and fingerling potatoes). However, chefs Gilles L’Heureux and Christopher Hughes have also put a lot of thought into dishes like the ling cod served with croquettes and the pan-roasted lamb sirloin served with ratatouille.
Sommelier Nico Artiguenave has prepared a wine list that complements their menu perfectly and features wines from across the world, but with a clear emphasis on those from France, Canada, and the US. Also included is a fixed-price menu available for parties of ten people or more, with a choice of appetizer, main, and dessert. Les Faux Bourgeois has won the Georgia Straight’s Golden Plate Award for Best French.
