Stolen Build-A-Bear returned thanks to the help of Ryan Reynolds

Some sad posters went up in the West End of Vancouver last week. The poster included a picture of a Build-A-Bear and a sad description that read:

“Build-a-bear with loving voice recording from mom before she died of cancer. I also had her beloved red Mickey Mouse wallet in the bag.

All items replaceable, I just want my mamabear back.”

The owner of the stolen bear also posted on social media about her treasured bear and the story began to gain steam. Some local news outlets and even CNN picked up the story, asking for the thief to return the sentinemal item.

The message made its way to Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds; he put a call out on Twitter offering a $5,000 reward, with zero questions asked. Days later, the bear was returned without a scratch and reunited with its owner.

Social media (and old-fashioned posters) are powerful in many ways. Luckily, this time their powers were used in the best way.
