Monk McQueens to open 2010 Ultimate Ice Lounge for Olympics
With seating and walls carved entirely from ice, the 2010 Ultimate Ice Lounge will undoubtedly be Vancouver’s coolest bar.
Similar in concept to the Minus-5 Ice Lounge in Las Vegas, the temperature in the 16-by34-foot portable freezer will be kept at -5 degrees Celsius, and customers will be loaned warm outerwear to enjoy their experience.
It’s being built on the deck of Monk McQueens (601 Stamps Landing) and opens February 8.
It will be open until March 31, and cost $25 per person for entry, including one vodka cocktail.

The complimentary vodka cocktail better be extra special.

These portable ice cooler "ice bar" wannabes are everywhere. I've been to a couple while travelling just for the novelty concept. I didn't care about the admission... but the point is, it's not a real "bar" so the admission has to be high.
But if you've never been in a freezer (call it ice bar or not) ... I endure the cold pretty well but after 30-40 mins, it became less and less fun being there. Don't expect to just kick back and "chill" (cheesy pun intended) too long. You'll get cold and you'll DEFINITELY get bored.
You want as close to a ice *BAR* experience as you can find? Check out the original: http://www.absoluticebar.com/web/Hem.aspx ... the novelty portable coolers (like this one) won't cut it.
