DOXA brings the much-praised Elemental to Vancouver on Tuesday (January 29) for its first screening in this year’s Motion Pictures Film Series.

Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee and Gayatri Roshan’s doc  follows the work of three activists taking on water rights in different parts of the world.

In India, Rajendra Singh fights to save the Ganges River from industrial pollution; In Australia, Jay Harman employs the physics of water to potentially combat climate change; and in Northern Alberta, Eriel Deranger battles tar sand production and the Keystone XL Pipeline.

With the recent gutting of Canada’s Navigable Waters Protection Act, it’s a movie that couldn’t be much timelier. Check out the trailer below.

Elemental gets its Vancouver premiere at the Bosa Centre at Capilano University, on Tuesday (January 29)
