VIFF 2013 review: Apocalypse: A Bill Callahan Film Tour

(USA)

An idiosyncratic performer is profiled in this hypnotic, one-hour doc, which follows the deep-voiced singer-guitarist around the U.S. while he purveys his unique blend of straight talk, opaque poetry, and highly improvisatory (if harmonically narrow) music. A very worthwhile visit, since the former Smog man makes a more powerful impression on stage than he does on records.
