Matt Johnson’s smart debut feature—a faux documentary about two high-school friends who seek revenge on bullies by making an action film and plotting to act out the murderous story line in real life as a documentary—astutely captures the delusional grandeur of teenage fantasies and manipulation. The gradual shift from hilarity to creepiness is unsettling.
