VIFF 2013 review: A Lady in Paris

(Estonia/France/Belgium)

    1 of 2 2 of 2

The lady of the title is a middle-aged Estonian (the wonderfully controlled Laine Mägi) who moves to Paris to care for an aging, angry diva played, in a valedictory triumph, by Jeanne Moreau. The City of Light is a principal character here, competing for our attention with La Moreau and melting away the frost of those long Baltic winters. A small marvel, not to be missed.
