VIFF 2013 review: Stand Clear of the Closing Doors
This second effort from director Sam Fleischner achieves what many indie flicks attempt: an inside track on the inner lives of everyday people but with that extra something that makes it art. The mostly nonpro cast excels in this tale of an autistic teenager who wanders the New York City subway system while his mom—worried about her own immigration issues—frantically searches for him. Highly recommended.
