VIFF 2013 review: Kiss the Water
Become one with the zen of fly fishing in this artful little eccentricity. Eric Steel's meditative doc mixes witness recollections with painted animation, serene Scottish landscapes, and closeups of hands methodically wrapping and knotting flies. It tells the odd, almost unbelievable story of reclusive fly master Megan Boyd, a near-legendary Scot once sought out by fishermen near and far. For anglers who consider their pastime an art form; probably a bit arcane for the others.
