If you're a fan of watching creative types competing against time and each other to create something ingenious under pressure à la Project Runway, then there's a new show that might interest you. And it's shot right here in Vancouver.

The five-episode art competition series Crash Gallery is hosted by the Art Gallery of Ontario's Sean O'Neill.

Each episode will feature three artists competing in a diverse series of time-pressure challenges, ranging from creating a mosaic out of smashed plates to painting a mural while suspended in the air.

What's more, the live and interactive audience participates in the challenges and vote for their favourite artist after each challenge, with one artist being named the champion at the end of each episode.

The competitors hail from all different types of artistic disciplines, including graffiti artists, piñata makers, body painters, classically trained painters, sculptors, muralists, illustrators, nail technicians, First Nations carvers, and even cake artists.

The series promises to be high energy, irreverent, and messy.

Crash Gallery is set to launch on CBC on Friday (October 2) at 8:30 p.m.
