A group of French researchers at Sexualitics has developed a method for analyzing the popularity of different types of porn films.

The project is intended to contribute to greater understanding of human sexuality through what it calls the "Big Data" approach.

The researchers have created the "porngram", which tracks the use of words in the titles of nearly 800,000 porn movies uploaded in recent years.

As you can see in the charts above and below, some words are being uploaded more frequently, whereas others are on the downswing.

Movies mentioning the words "MILF" and "threesome" are more common than they were in 2008.

Films carrying the words "interracial" have flatlined, whereas "trans" showed a modest recovery in 2012 after two down years.

Fewer movies carry the word "lesbian", according to the researchers.
