Vancouver-based film and television production company Force Four Entertainment has given Simon Fraser University Library its most expensive donation to date: a film collection worth $1.8 million.

The collection contains material spanning 32 years, including 1151 folders containing scripts and production texts, 31,000 photos, and over 5,000 films.

Titles include Nimisha Mukerji and Phillip Lyall's 2009 documentary 65_Redroses about cystic fibrosis, the CBC TV series Village on a Diet, and documentaries on celebrated Canadians such as Terry Fox and Rick Hansen.

Materials are in 24 different formats, including Betacam tapes, CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, floppy discs, and digital files.

SFU Library, which held a reception on Thursday (November 26) to celebrate the donation, will be digitizing materials susceptible to degradation.

Force Four Entertainment, which has offices in Vancouver and Toronto and has a produced titles such as Border Security, The Cupcake Girls, Human Cargo, First Dates, and The Love Crimes of Gillian Guess, was acquired by Entertainment One in 2014.
