Creative BC announced its new board of directors, which features representation from a variety of B.C.'s tech and creative industries, on January 27.

Dentons Canada LLP partner Gordon Esau will be the incoming chair while Force Four Entertainment president Robert Bromley will be the vice-chair.

Esau has served on the board for 11 years and represents many major Hollywood studios, U.S. TV networks, animation and visual effects studios, and independent production companies. Bromley has served on the board for three years and has been involved in Canadian production for the past 20 years.

New board members include Okanagan International Animation Festival executive director Anne Denman, Watchdog Management general manager Sarah Fenton, Vancouver Magazine and Western Living publisher and general manager Tom Gierasimuczuk, and Zynga Inc studio operations senior vice-president Pauline Moller.

Returning board members include Seed Management president Michael Francis, SFU contemporary arts professor emeritus Colin Browne, Douglas & McIntyre founding partner and Vancouver Institute president Scott McIntyre, Maple Ridge Films producer Shan Tam, and FuseFX head of production and visual effects Jason Dowdswell.

Francis served as board chair for over 23 years, which included the merger of the BC Film Commission and BC Film + Media. Browne was vice-chair for over 10 years.

Creative BC was created by the province in April 2013 to help develop B.C.'s creative sector, including film, TV, digital and interactive media, music, and book and magazine publishing industries.

Prem Gill was announced CEO of the non-profit society in September.
