      Images of a Dictatorship (Canada)

At any given time the world is blighted by military dictatorships, but the Pinochet regime that seized and terrorized Chile in the early ’70s seems to hold a special fascination, even 24 years after its fall. Assembled from the personal archives of a news cameraman who covered the entire 17-year rule, Images of a Dictatorship offers a vérité account of life inside the brutal junta. Canadian documentarian Patricio Henríquez’s film is paired with two excellent shorts: “Presque Vu” and “What Comes Between”.

      At the Cinematheque, September 2 (5 p.m.)
