It is basically impossible to avoid a perma-grin while watching the hour-long Argentinian documentary Living Stars.

The whole film is literally one long dance montage, and it is downright delightful.

Ordinary subjects, including students, a housewife, an English teacher, a taekwondoist and a middle-aged building manager shimmy around their living rooms, kitchens, and gardens to their favourite songs, while younger siblings, parents, pets, and grandparents look on in the background.

Some of the most memorable moments include four seniors dancing from their chairs, an adorable small child swiveling his hips, a cowboy kinesiologist being chased around his living room by two barking dogs, and a dentist who can’t help but dance his way into multiple scenes.

Even the subjects who are lacking in sense of rhythm make up for it with an enthusiasm that is completely infectious.

And with each scene, the Buenos Aires dancers allow the viewer to catch a brief glimpse of their varied lives.

If the film doesn't prompt you to start your own dance party, it is definitely bound to leave you with a smile on your face.

Living Stars screens Friday (August 29) at 5:30 p.m. at The Cinematheque.
