Continuing the trend of Latin American films about middle-class ennui, Marcelo Tobar’s tale of two siblings having an uneasy reunion starts out well, with hints of mystery and a strong visual style. But after it begins depending on a Big Tragedy in their shared past, complete with dreamy flashbacks, the enigmatic gives way to the obvious, for mildly unsatisfying results.
International Village, October 1 (9:30 p.m.) and 4 (11:15 a.m.); Cinematheque, October 7 (4:15 p.m.)
