Handmade With Love in France (France)

Must-see viewing for fashion hounds and an enjoyable, elegantly crafted peek into a secret world for those who aren’t. Director Julie Georgia Bernard takes viewers into the cramped, unglamorous ateliers that make everything from pleated fabrics to elaborate hat forms for haute couture labels. “You cannot hurry,” says one artisan, and you’ll lose all sense of time watching this dying breed use century-old methods. But the film reveals that these likable, aging characters are on their way out, and Paris is fast losing a part of its culture as globalization and fast fashion invade.
