Los Angeles–based Skybound Entertainment is expanding their multimedia entertainment company to our side of the border with a new B.C. branch.

Skybound North will be a Vancouver-based office that will focus on developing Canadian writing and production talent.

It'll be headed by Catherine Winder, who was a Lucasfilm executive and who later became the president of Vancouver's Rainmaker Entertainment (formerly Mainframe) from 2009 to 2012. She has also worked at Fox Feature Animation and HBO Animation.

One of the first projects of the Vancouver office will be the AMC docu-series Heroes and Villains: The History of Comics.

Skybound was founded by chairman Robert Kirkman, who co-created the comic book The Walking Dead that inspired the TV series, and CEO David Alpert in 2010. Skybound partly shot Fear the Walking Dead in Vancouver in 2015.
