UBCP/ACTRA 2016 award nominees include Jacob Tremblay, Camille Sullivan, and more

      The 2016 UBCP/ACTRA Awards, honouring some of B.C.'s brightest talents in the province's screen industries, are fast approaching.

      (The Union of British Columbia Performers [UBCP] is an autonomous branch of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television, and Radio Artists [ACTRA].)

      The red-carpet gala will be held on November 12 at the Vancouver Playhouse.

      Among the nominees is child star Jacob Tremblay, who garnered acclaim for his performance in the feature film adaptation of Emma Donoghue's novel Room. Tremblay won numerous awards for his role in the film, including the Canadian Screen Award for best actor.

      Eli Goree is nominated for his supporting role in the film Race, about African-American athlete Jesse Owens.

      Juan Riedinger is also nominated for his performance in the Vancouver-shot and –set espionage drama TV series The Romeo Section.   

      The Birdwatcher's Camille Sullivan

      In the best actress category, Camille Sullivan is among the nominees in the best actress category for her role as a single mother of two who tries to reconnect with her birth mother in the film The Birdwatcher.   

      Both Steven Cree Molison and Carmen Moore were nominated for their performances on the First Nations drama TV series Blackstone.
