The Vancouver Queer Film Festival's artistic director Shana Myara has resigned from her position.

Myara began in her role as artistic director for the 25th anniversary of the festival in 2013, though she had previously worked for the organization in various capacities from 2003 to 2007.

The 2016 festival broke previous records with an attendance of 14,000. This year also saw the launch of the Troublemakers Film Project, which paired LGBT youth with senior changemakers.

During her tenure, Myara also served as a juror at the Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival.

Out on Screen, which runs the VQFF, will be posting a call for applications for the position in the near future.

The 2017 festival will run from August 10 to 20, followed by the 30th anniversary in 2018.

Submissions for the 2017 festival are now being accepted. For full details, visit the VQFF website.
