Kathy Griffin says she went too far with bloody spoof of Donald Trump

It's kind of sad to see comedian Kathy Griffin offer a grovelling apology for poking fun at Donald Trump.

It came after she arranged a shoot with photographer Tyler Shields that featured a less-than-flattering mask of the president of the United States.

She noted in the video below that the likeness of the Donald was covered in fake blood, not the real stuff.

"Tyler and I are not afraid to do images that make noise," she says.

Then, for added effect, she drops the head on the floor, all of which was captured on camera for the benefit of anyone who's utterly sick of the pompous, bullying ass occupying the White House.

      Naturally, many Americans went berserk.

You can't do that to the president!!!!

And Griffin's critics included the daughter of Hillary and Bill Clinton.

Rather than stand her ground like Lenny Bruce might have done, Griffin offered an unreserved apology.

It's a bit tedious to watch.

Trump, on the other hand, has not apologized for calling former FBI director James Comey a nut job after he fired him. Nor has Trump apologized for calling Mexicans rapists. And he hasn't said he's sorry for tweeting: "If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America."

Then again, this is from a man who cited an "extremely credible source" who told him that Barack Obama's birth certificate was a fraud.

To quote the Donald himself, "what a loser!"
