Make no doubt about it—the boys are back. And Canadians still love them.

The first Trailer Park Boys movie in 2006 set a box office record for an English-language Canadian movie by hauling in $1.35M (CDN) on its opening weekend.

The film eventually boasted a total domestic gross of $3.86M.

The box office success of the first film prompted Telefilm Canada to provide $3.5 million to fund the sequel, Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day.

This past weekend, the return of Bubbles, Ricky, Julian,  and company in the new film almost matched the debut feature, by grossing $1.32M.

It ranked third on the weekend box office charts. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs ($2.5M) and Surrogates ($1.33M) came in at first and second places, and followed by Fame ($926,192) in fourth place.
