VIFF 2012 review: Breakfast With Curtis
(USA)
Laura Colella’s debut feature has an air of studied unreality, but it’s based on the charmingly eccentric behaviour of real New England bohemians who here settle a long-standing (if mild) neighbourly feud in order to get down to the business of writing poetry, selling rare books, and getting seriously high in the garden. Like Theo Green, who plays the main yapper here, the movie’s gently anarchic spirit eventually proves hard to resist.
Granville, September 28 (12:20 p.m.) and October 5 (8:30 p.m.) and 7 (3:15 p.m.)
