VIFF 2012 review: Two Jacks
(USA)
This pleasant, throwaway tale of Hollywood, ostensibly based on a time-jumping Leo Tolstoy story, features Danny Huston in a convincing riff on his own dad, John Huston. Starting with one of the last of the hard-drinking, Hemingwayesque directors on a binge, it then flashes forward to the fictional director’s son, played by Boardwalk Empire’s masked Jack Huston (he’s Danny’s nephew, in fact), trying to make his way in a much more nebulous show biz. Uniquely, Sienna Miller and Jacqueline Bisset play the same character.
