Man or Astro-man? at the Biltmore Cabaret

    1 of 1 2 of 1

There are certain questions that have plagued mankind since it first crawled from the primordial ooze. Like, for example, how exactly do they get the caramel in the Caramilk bar? Why did God make Ted Nugent? Who started mainstreaming the idea that kale was good for you? And what’s up with the most prolific instrumental surf rockers to ever come from Auburn, Alabama? Will scientists, 500 years from now, file them under Man or Astro-man? Actually, it’s possible that the world’s bespectacled eggheads will be happy simply referring to them as “awesome”. There’s a good reason that Man or Astro-man? is still chugging along 21 years after rolling out of the garage. When you’ve come up with a great shtick—dressing up in space suits, and playing in front of props straight from Forbidden Planet—you don’t pack up your guitars and retire to a life of watching Mystery Science Theatre 3000 in the basement. No, you keep on touring, the good news there being that we’ll get to see a bunch of insanely entertaining weirdos bridge Black Flag and Dick Dale at the Biltmore on Wednesday (May 15). And please, don’t ask who Dick Dale and Black Flag are—those are two questions that should plague no one.
