One of the legends of the first British Invasion, Eric Burdon, will make an appearance at Neptoon Records prior to his show at the Hard Rock Casino on Record Store Day (April 18).

Neptoon’s Ben Frith told the Straight that the singer—best known for his work with the Animals and War—has made a habit of meeting and greeting.

“He’s done it before in different cities for Record Store Day,” said Frith. “He reached out to one of the people on his label, who happens to shop at our store one or two times a week, and he said it was a good fit. We’re all really excited about it.”

Burdon’s hits with the Animals, including “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” and “We Gotta Get Out of This Place”, are stone classics. “But he’s still doing all kinds of cool projects,” Frith noted, not the least of which was an EP recorded with Jack White’s buddies the Greenhornes back in 2012.

Burdon is also the “eggman” alluded to by John Lennon in “I Am the Walrus”, although for reasons too filthy to be included here. Can Neptoon patrons ask him about that?

“As long as you keep the line moving,” said Frith, “ask anything you want.”
