Kate Boy at the Biltmore Cabaret
Here’s your chance to get in on the ground floor. You know that all the coolest things come from Sweden, right? Like Ikea’s fall 2013 line of furniture. And Swedish House Mafia. And Victoria Silvstedt, Elin Nordegren, Elsa Hosk, Klara Wester, and Caroline Winberg.
On Thursday (September 19) you can see the future today, when the enigmatically named Kate Boy pulls into the Biltmore Cabaret. Despite what the act’s moniker might suggest, Kate Boy isn’t a person, but instead a Stockholm-based electro-pop unit. And it’s not fronted by a boy, but instead a girl, namely Kate Akhurst. And Akhurst isn’t Swedish, even though she lives there; she’s originally from Australia, which, funnily enough, isn’t home to anything that’s cool. All Oz has got to offer the world is Crocodile Dundee and Yahoo Serious. Unlike Sweden, whose Kate Boy suggests Gwen Stefani if she’d been more obsessed with New Order than Madness. And that’s Madness from England we’re talking about, not Madness of the Night, who are actually from Sweden. Unlike Kate Akhurst.
