Dieter Moebius’s recent holiday means extra work for Gareth Moses, but it’s the kind that the More Than Human label owner says he’s “overjoyed” to take on. One of the key architects of Deutsche elektronische musik, Moebius was enjoying some West Coast sightseeing when he agreed to produce a vinyl-plus-download EP for the CiTR DJ’s young label.

“It was opportunism, really,” says Moses, who met the Swiss-born musician after his August 22 show at the Cobalt. “He was travelling around the province as part of a vacation, which I thought was quite interesting—Moebius and his wife travelling in an RV around Alberta and British Columbia—so he said, ‘We should meet again in Vancouver when I get back.’ So we did. We talked at length about his life and his work, and at the end he said that, having seen the records and listened to them, he would be very happy to do something for the label.

“It’s going to be a big deal, or it is a big deal,” Moses adds. “The value of his name means that a lot more people will, hopefully, not only buy his record but also investigate our back catalogue.”

More Than Human expects to release the as-yet-untitled project in early 2014.
