If you follow the DJ scene even casually, you no doubt know the drill by now: a bunch of the best turntablists you’re ever likely to witness will attempt to set the goddamned club on fire by showcasing their skills utilizing three distinct styles of music.

On Friday (April 24) at Fortune Sound Club, DJs from all over Western Canada—including Charly Hustle, DJ Unit, the Gaff, Jamil the DJ, Mixed Menace, Nick Bike, and WAKCUTT—will battle for the chance to compete at the nationals in Winnipeg on May 9. After that, it’s on to the world finals in Tokyo. And then, presumably, it’s off to the galactic regionals somewhere past the Van Allen belt.
