Pemberton Music Festival starts July 16

The big shocker at last year’s inaugural Pemberton Music Festival was the way that it was so, well, civilized. There was no traffic jam leading up to the site, no overflowing porta-potties, and no blocklong lineups for food, water, or the beer tent.

As for the talent, no one left complaining about seeing Snoop Dogg, Blondie, Outkast, and more in one of the world’s most beautiful settings.

Clearly not interested in resting on their laurels, organizers have somehow managed to up their game for the second edition of the Pemberton Music Festival, which runs Thursday to Sunday (July 16 to 19) in Pemberton. This year’s version boasts a crazily deep lineup, ranging from hip-hop giants Missy Elliott (seen above) and Kendrick Lamar to EDM titans Tiësto and Jack Ü (featuring Skrillex and Diplo). Throw Weezer, Alice Cooper, the Black Keys, Ludacris, Beirut, and Paul Oakenfold into the mix, and you’ve got the makings of a super-festival. And the goodness doesn’t stop there. Hello Bassnectar, the War on Drugs, De La Soul, Dan Mangan + Blacksmith, Chvrches, and… Well, you get the idea.

Shocking? Yes, but only because this year looks epic.
