Rock ’n’ roll has a new home at the Revel Room
Some of Vancouver’s greatest rock ’n’ roll players have a new home at the Revel Room. Having renewed the Gastown bar and diner’s lease, owner Dennis Brock has introduced a weekly live-music schedule, with the Do-Rites appearing every Sunday, the Steve Kozak Trio on Mondays, and boogie-woogie piano master Mike Van Eyes taking the Tuesday slot. Brock’s own band, the Revellers (featuring guitarists Dave Paterson and Jimmy Roy), will play every Wednesday.
“There’s just so few places to play in Vancouver for these musicians,” the singer told the Straight. “Most of them are the older cats that have been putting on shows here and all over the place, touring all over the world for 30 or 40 years…and these guys are incredible. They’re as hot as it gets.”
For a full-on blast, all four bands are appearing Wednesday (October 9) at the Revel Room’s grand re-opening party. “It’s gonna be off-the-hook, for sure,” said Brock.
