It’s funny how some people are preceded by their reputations. Take, for example, John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees, who play the Rickshaw next Wednesday (October 16). Google the guy’s name, and eventually you’ll come across YouTube footage where he’s using his guitar to dent the head of a promoter at a Toronto nightclub. As for the dude’s promo photos, well, let’s just say that some pictures practically scream “stone-cold crazy”. That description will also suffice (in a good way) for the cover art (think strawberries and werewolf teeth) of Thee Oh Sees’ latest, Floating Coffin, as well as the garage-psych ravers contained on said disc. Should you be looking for a guaranteed out-there time next week, then you know what to pencil in in the Day-Timer. Just keep your head away from Dwyer’s guitar, not to mention your hands and feet away from his mouth.
