Devotchka at the Imperial

Over the course of 15 years and 10 albums, Denver-based quartet Devotchka has forged a unique sound from rock, punk, vaudeville, classical music, eastern European traditions, Hispanic folk, and Italian bel canto.

In lesser hands, such a diverse mix of genres and styles would result in a shapeless hodgepodge, but Devotchka—at the Imperial on Friday (September 4)—integrates such disparate elements with flair. Their original songs have contemporary bite while reflecting the rich history of America’s melting pot.
